Synopsis
A story about Hotaru and Yuuka, two schoolgirls who used to be childhood friends.
After Yuuka moves away following the death of her parents, they reunite in high school.
Since Yuuka has been raised to continue the family business by her grandparents, she is more proper now, but her boyish inside is the same as ever.
Yuuka can completely be herself in front of Hotaru.
While they are in separate classes, they make a club for just the two of them.
They spend their after-school time together, both harboring feelings in secret.
You are the stuffed animal in the two characters’ memories.
The story advances through the two girls’ dialogue.
Please enjoy the bittersweet story.

Editorial Review
Hotaru Afterglow occupies a specific niche in character-driven voice drama: the bittersweet retrospective on adolescent intimacy between female characters. Rather than pursuing dramatic climax, it’s structured as a quiet excavation of unspoken attachment—two girls circling each other across years, held together by shared memory and the presence of a silent third (you, the stuffed animal). That framing device is its strongest asset, transforming the listener from passive observer to custodian of their emotional history.
The production leans heavily on dialogue chemistry, which makes the voice casting consequential. Sakura Tange’s experience with both vulnerable and determined characters suits Hotaru’s role as anchor, while the contrast between Yuuka’s outward propriety and “boyish inside” creates natural vocal territory—that gap between performed self and authentic self is the work’s thematic backbone. The addition of Chinese localization (Simplified characters, subtitled video excerpts) signals conscious international distribution strategy, distinguishing this from typical domestic-only releases. That Kikuko Inoue appears in a supporting maternal role suggests intergenerational framing around family loss and legacy.
As a free sample, the three track excerpts function as tonal preview rather than complete narrative experience. This is appropriate positioning—potential buyers get genuine dialogue sequences and production fidelity without spoiling the arc’s emotional payoff. The format (WAV, video excerpts with subtitles) prioritizes audio clarity and accessibility over bells.
This appeals most to listeners seeking introspective voice work grounded in character specificity rather than audio gimmickry—people drawn to the Takaragumi/Boys Love Drama CD tradition but filtered through sapphic territory. If you value restrained emotional storytelling and sustained vocal performances over ASMR trigger-chasing, this sample proves the full product’s competence and commitment.
Worth the full purchase if the sample’s tonal restraint engages you.
