Synopsis

Once, the nation of Hinomoto was ruled by an absolute monarchy with an ‘Emperor’ at the helm and the aristocracy in control. Then one day, revolution strikes Hinomoto. Three years after the revolution, many of the nobles, including the ‘Emperor,’ are exiled from Hinomoto, and the nation becomes a republic. Over ten years have passed since Hinomoto became a republic. Now, at ‘Kikuno Leaf Academy,’ two female swordsmen cross blades. One is Ryota-miya Aria, a descendant of the ‘Emperor’ who once ruled Hinomoto and the fiancée of the student council president. The other is Yamano no Emi, who is called the ‘eternal second place’ in Aria’s shadow and serves in the student council police force. Aria receives overwhelming popularity from students, while Emi, with her cold and arrogant personality, is utterly unpopular. Both, however, harbor strong feelings for Hinomoto. Yet for Emi, a hardliner of the republic and a nationalist, Aria is an unacceptable existence. This is because Aria’s mother is of the imperial family of the neighboring nation of Roarshildt.
