Synopsis
May 1st, 1945… Germany. In the ruins of falling Berlin, certain individuals perform a ritual. For them, military defeat is trivial—they seek to sacrifice the countless victims born from the war as catalysts for their ceremony. Whether this attempt succeeded or failed remains unknown. After the war’s end, they vanished without a trace, their very existence shrouded in mystery. Only rumors persist of the Holy Spear Thirteen Knights—superhuman beings born from the darkness of their era. They will return one day, and when they do, the world will be destroyed. Thus, their return must be prevented at all costs.
Sixty-one years have passed. Most who knew of them are dead, forgotten by all. But in 2006, Japan—at a school in Suwahara City, Fujii Ren finds himself hospitalized for two months following a violent confrontation with his best friend Yusa Shiro, triggered by a mysterious incident. Now in December, as Christmas approaches and Ren is discharged, he tries to rebuild his life without Shiro. Yet everything crumbles. Nightmares of the guillotine plague his nights. A serial killer hunts for heads. Black-clad Knights pursue the killer. Inexplicable chaos engulfs the city, shattering all he has built. To survive, Ren must change. To return, he must prevail.
In a world spiraling toward madness, Ren crosses the boundary between the mundane and the extraordinary. He seeks nothing grand, wields no righteous cause. He simply wants to go back—to those ordinary, unremarkable, yet warm days now lost. As Shiro’s words echo in his mind, Ren faces the Holy Spear Thirteen Knights in a war drenched in madness, murder, and curses. What will he find in its aftermath?
