Five years after the Third World War. The small island nation of Nihon, divided east and west, remains in a state of incomplete reconstruction. Tokyo, the former capital now abandoned in the eastern margins and called the Old Metropolis, has degenerated into a lawless zone rife with drugs. Furthermore, in the northern city of Toshima, the drug organization Vischio has begun “Igura,” a deadly battle game. Hearing rumors that “the victor of Igura will be promised the seat of the organization’s leader and immense wealth,” spirited youths flock to the violence-torn city of Toshima.
Akira lived alone in this era of material and spiritual decline. An undefeated champion of the street fight “Bl@ster,” he spends his days feeling emptiness from the monotonous daily battles. One day, he is arrested by police as a suspect in a murder. Despite his pleas of innocence, his words fall on deaf ears. Then, two men and women appear before the resisting Akira. The woman makes him an offer: “We could set you free, if you accept our conditions.”
