[STORY]

A large man wearing a general’s insignia—the highest rank in the nation—speaks to a man named Lauru standing before him: “Just moments ago, I received word from my subordinates. The transfer of the king, queen, princesses, and other royal family members has been completed.”

Behind the general sits an empty throne, standing lonely as if waiting for its master’s return. The royal family that occupied this room mere moments ago has vanished without trace.

The Kingdom of Fereshuel—blessed by a prosperous climate and beautiful nature, favored by geography, and having achieved economic development through both land and sea trade—faced a persistent problem: the independence movement in the “Berujall Colony.” For years, the kingdom had been embroiled in conflict with independence forces.

As the world’s tide shifted, neighboring nations abandoned their colonies one by one, and Fereshuel followed suit. However, this colony, rich in natural resources and vital to the kingdom’s economy, could not be relinquished. Suppression became an absolute priority.

Yet even this resolve wavered under mounting military expenses and war-weary citizens. The kingdom began steering toward accepting colonial independence.

Then the military hardliners intervened—proclaiming an “Unyielding Strong Fereshuel” and “Absolute Protection of the Colony.” These hardliners, gathering discontented soldiers and colluding with those hungry for colonial profits, executed a military coup. The royal family and pro-kingdom nobility were arrested and transported to detention camps.

“And the fact that I’ve summoned you before me means you understand your purpose,” the general says.

“Yes, sir. The ‘re-education’ of the royal family,” Lauru replies.

“Ha! You grasp things quickly. Treat the princesses especially—those who will shape the kingdom’s future—with ‘care,’ if you will.”

A smile crosses the general’s face.

Lauru Shaarl is a military specialist in interrogation, torture, and conditioning—very much the embodiment of the military’s dark side. His “re-education” means converting spineless royals into convenient puppets of the military.
