Editorial Review
Jersey Musume and Monster Friends sits in the monster-girl-adjacent corner of the doujin adventure space, but it swaps the usual harem or dungeon-crawl framing for a revenge-mystery setup. That is an unusual hook in a market where the adventure tag often just means “click through to the next scene.” The tone looks deliberately absurd, and the premise is played with a straight face.
The setup is the main draw. Shibataro, whose name and daily walks suggest a beloved pet, dies after accepting an onion ring from one of three jersey-clad schoolgirls. His younger brother Red, together with his partner Toy and the “Injuu Friends,” lays ambushes along the walking course, still unable to identify the culprit three months on. Pairing a whodunit structure with a gang of beast companions and a trio of uniform-wearing suspects gives the adventure framing a clear goal, which many works in this space lack. On the production side, the Voice, Music and Animation tags matter, and the note that every H-scene is animated suggests more polish than the static-CG standard. The official English release lowers the barrier for international readers.
Players who enjoy offbeat, tongue-in-cheek premises, jersey and school-uniform appeal, and monster or beast-themed casts will get the most out of it, particularly if they value animated scenes over long text.
Verdict: a quirky revenge-comedy hook with fully animated payoffs, well suited to anyone who wants their monster-friend adventure to come with a plot gimmick.
