Synopsis
Why do I have to dress up as a girl!?
While enjoying a carefree summer break, unexpectedly, Asahi Kirisaki gets informed that his grandmother has been admitted to hospital.
Because of the hospitalization, his grandmother’s bathhouse is in danger of going out of business!
Asahi wants to do something about it, so he asks his older sister, Jun Kirisaki, for advice.
There, Jun asks whether he is absolutely serious about this.
“Of course I’m serious!”
Then, Jun hands a paper bag to Asahi.
Inside was a wig and a set of what appeared to be girls’ clothes.
Jun explains the rule of “a women sits on the guard table at Hime-no-yu,” which Asahi had completely forgotten about.
Asahi was confused as to how he should react.
On top of that, he accidentally encounters Chika Kirie, a part-time worker, taking a shower.
Now Asahi has to dress up as a girl to hide his true identity.
Thus, Asahi reopens the bathhouse dressing up as a girl.
What will happen to the future of the bathhouse?
Will Asahi be able to stay in the bathhouse without being exposed?

Editorial Review
Bathhouse Girlfriend slots into the crossdressing-comedy corner of the adult visual novel space, where a male protagonist has to pass as a girl for a practical reason rather than as a fetish setup. The sento backdrop is the real draw, since the genre leans heavily on school and office settings and a family-run public bath is a refreshingly tactile alternative.
What sets it apart is how neatly the premise is built. Asahi Kirisaki isn’t dressing up on a whim. His grandmother’s hospitalization puts Hime-no-yu at risk, and a forgotten house rule that a woman must sit at the guard table forces his hand. That gives the disguise real stakes and a ready source of comedy, especially once his sister Jun, who supplies the wig and clothes, becomes an enabler. The setup also drops him into a compromising encounter with part-timer Chika Kirie almost immediately, so the secret-identity tension starts early, and a bathhouse is about as awkward a place for it as you could pick. On the production side, the Voice and Music tags suggest a fully voiced presentation with a proper soundtrack, which matters for a story built on steam, atmosphere, and comic timing. The Japanese and English language support is also welcome in a market where many comparable titles never get localized.
The synopsis cuts off before revealing where the story goes, so the long-term payoff is hard to judge, but the opening is confident and well motivated.
Readers who enjoy gender-bending setups with a lighthearted, slice-of-life tone, and who like a family-business rescue plot behind their romance, will get the most from it.
Verdict: a warm, well-framed crossdressing comedy that turns a neighborhood bathhouse into a pressure cooker of secrets and romance.
