Editorial Review
Soaring Machinariae sits in the action RPG corner of the doujin catalog, a space that often favors adult-oriented visual novels and leaves side-view action games underserved. Its tags (Action, Voice, Music, Application) point to a gameplay-first design, and nothing in the listing foregrounds erotic content, so expect an adventure before anything else.
What stands out is the commitment to a complete package. You play Iris, an automaton called a Machinariae, serving her master Maria in a hunt for a wish-granting treasure inside a mysterious tower. The setup is classic quest material: rescued maidens, rekindled rivalries, and a mysterious girl who keeps attacking. On the mechanical side, the game is controlled entirely from the keyboard, covering movement, jumping, dashing, guards, counters, and special moves, with items assignable to numbered hotkeys. The “easy to play, hard to master” pitch suggests a combo-driven system with some depth. Production values are strong for the format. Kensei supplies 31 original BGMs and 2 MEs, and every character is fully voiced in Japanese by professional actors, which is uncommon in action-oriented independent releases. English and Japanese language support widens the audience further.
The synopsis cuts off before the voice-cast details finish, so the full extent of the audio work is unclear. The structure still reads as ambitious and polished.
Players who want a story-backed action RPG with a strong soundtrack, full voice acting, and tight keyboard-driven combat will get the most from it, especially if they enjoy automaton heroines and tower-climbing treasure hunts.
Soaring Machinariae is a well-produced action adventure for those who want their doujin games to play as well as they sound.
