Pure Soldier OTOMAIDEN #7. Guide of the Winds (English Edition)

Editorial Review

★3.7 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

Pure Soldier OTOMAIDEN occupies the serialized magical girl action space—specifically, the ongoing chronicle format where episodic installments build toward larger narrative arcs. This particular entry positions itself as mid-series expansion, deepening an established world rather than serving as entry point, though the full-color production and relatively self-contained sections suggest accessibility for selective readers.

What distinguishes this episode is its structural pivot toward antagonist development. The introduction of Muma—ambition-thwarted and actively scheming—and Kukri, the enigmatic soldier doll, marks a deliberate shift from pure battle-focused narrative toward conspiritorial plotting. The “howling wind” framing suggests these new characters function as destabilizing forces rather than straightforward obstacles, implying the doujin is willing to complicate its established power dynamics. Across 65 full-color pages covering four sections, this installment balances action sequences with exposition-heavy worldbuilding, a common rhythm in serialized magical girl work that either engages readers seeking layered mythology or alienates those preferring immediate gratification.

The R-15 rating and “battle maidens” framing position this within the ecchi-adjacent rather than explicitly adult category—the appeal centers on action, character design, and narrative intrigue rather than explicit content. Full-color presentation throughout elevates production values above typical manga compensation, a quality indicator in the independent scene.

This works best for readers already invested in the OTOMAIDEN continuity seeking deeper lore development and willing to engage with mid-series pacing. Newcomers should start with the listed prequels; existing fans encountering familiar cast dynamics alongside new threat introduction will find sufficient momentum here.

A competent serialized chapter that prioritizes world-expansion over standalone thrills—consistent with the series’ established trajectory.
