Michikusaya – Ine: Mucky Rice Field & Gentle Ear Cleaning [English & Chinese Ver.]

    Home › Comics › Michikusaya – Ine: Mucky Rice Field & G

    Synopsis

    A subtitled audio work.

[Daytime] ——– Soil and Nap ——–

In the evening, you play with two hostesses at a shrine.

You feed fish, drink ramune, and dig holes.

Finally, you all take a nap together.

    * Nostalgic Memories and Smells

The human nose is capable of picking out the scent it’s searching for.

And so smelling the scents of our childhood can bring back vivid flashbacks.

The proof is in the pudding!

The scope we used to use for digging.

The clanging of metal and small rocks, and dirt being scooped back into place on the ground.

    The sound of plucking glass.

The pop of ramune in our mouths, and the rolling ball inside the bottle.

If you listen in with a window cracked open to let in the breeze,

you might suddenly feel a wave of nostalgia wash over…

[Evening] ——– Muddy Rice Field ——–

On the way back from the shrine, you and two others whistle with grass

while watching the sunset reflected on the rice field.

    *The mucky rice field*

In the wet rice fields, you can hear the sucking sound of the mud as your feet sink inside.

As the day starts to fade, the cries of frogs start and stop.

    * Ideal for spare time when you feel sleepy, but don’t wish to sleep.

[Night] —— Snoozy Ear Cleaning ——

You and one of the two attendants relax on a futon

and she cleans your ears slowly and listlessly.

*Gentle ear cleaning for falling asleep*

Fewer spoken lines, and gentle breathing.

If the guest turns over, they won’t be forced back into position.

With just a small hint of playful ear biting.

Outside, one can hear the chirping of frogs.

The conversation is light, and drowsy, helping you drift off to a comforting rest yourself.

    *Like your ears are plugged!*

The earpick and cotton swaps have a certain rigid feel to them this time,

so it may feel as though your ears are plugged.

    Editorial Review

★4.3 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

Michikusaya’s latest positions itself in the growing niche of nostalgic sensory ASMR—works that prioritize olfactory and tactile memory triggers over conventional relaxation. While shrine visit and childhood recall narratives have appeared before in adult voice works, the emphasis here on synaesthetic sensory reconstruction (scent-to-memory bridging) and the foregrounding of environmental soundscape design distinguishes this from standard intimate ASMR fare.

The work’s architecture is deliberately segmented: daytime shrine activities establish acoustic baseline through deliberate foley (metal clanging, ramune bottle mechanics, soil manipulation), then transitions into evening rice field ambience. This dual-phase structure mirrors how nostalgia operates neurologically—the first half seeds specific sensory anchors, the second allows them to resonate. The English and Chinese translations, marked as recommended, suggest professional localization attention to onomatopoeia and regional childhood memory crossover, which matters enormously when your core appeal rests on evoking shared sensory experience across language barriers.

The R-15 rating signals minimal explicit content; this is intimate without being sexual, focusing on the vulnerable psychological state triggered by sensory recall rather than physical intimacy. The presence of two hostesses creates a triangular dynamic—suggesting companionship and witnessed experience rather than solo gratification. Thematically, it’s mining a specific Japanese pastoral aesthetic (shrine, rice fields, ramune) while banking on the counterintuitive appeal of “muck” and soil as comfort objects.

This appeals most to ASMR listeners seeking emotional texture over pure relaxation, and to those drawn to works that treat memory and sensation as intertwined phenomena rather than separate experiences. If your ASMR preferences lean toward deliberately nostalgic construction and you’re patient with ambient-heavy productions that prioritize atmosphere over narrative momentum, this delivers thoughtful sensory layering that rewards active listening.

A meditation on how childhood sounds reshape adult comfort—subtly ambitious for the format.
