Synopsis

Aoki Umeko loses her husband Takashi in a tragic accident, and her newlywed happiness is shattered in an instant, plunging her into the depths of despair.

Months pass…

While grieving, she gradually adapts to life alone and begins to recover her natural cheerfulness. It’s then that Yuuka, Takashi’s sister, visits her.

Sensing Umeko’s loneliness, her sister-in-law Yuuka suggests she move to Shirayuri Town, concerned about Umeko who is bound by memories of Takashi.

Reluctant to burden others, Umeko cannot bring herself to refuse the kindness of her in-laws and parents. Seeing the emptiness in Umeko’s heart, she decides to stay at her in-laws’ house in Shirayuri Town to fill that void.

Umeko sees off her in-laws on a trip and is left to care for the family home. Thus begins her solitary life in Shirayuri Town…

Using this opportunity to reflect on her life and confront the loneliness of losing her husband, Umeko pledges to make a fresh start.
