Just As Katou Says

Editorial Review

★3.8 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

*Just As Katou Says* straddles the line between romantic comedy and the age-gap narrative that’s become increasingly prominent in doujinshi circles—though here the framing avoids the predatory dynamics that often plague the subgenre. Instead, it positions itself as a character study of an unremarkable salaryman whose mundane existence intersects with genuine romantic tension, however brief.

What distinguishes this work is its restraint. The synopsis promises “suggestive” rather than explicit content, and the 36-page length suggests a focused narrative arc rather than the padded pacing common in longer doujinshi. Katou’s characterization as “enigmatic” hints at genuine mystery in her motivations—why does she pursue this particular man?—which could elevate the work beyond typical wish-fulfillment fantasy. The emphasis on “fleeting” moments and encounters that “pass all too quickly” suggests thematic awareness of transience, positioning this less as permanent romance and more as an ephemeral collision between two lives.

The production format (available in both JPEG and PDF) is standard but functional, which means the creative focus presumably lands on narrative and artwork rather than experimental presentation. This straightforward delivery appeals to readers seeking digestible storytelling over formal innovation.

*Just As Katou Says* will resonate most with readers who appreciate understated romantic tension and character-driven narratives over explicit spectacle, particularly those comfortable with age-gap premises when handled with narrative nuance rather than exploitation. Fans of slice-of-life doujinshi with romantic undertones and an appreciation for incomplete, ambiguous relationships will find the most value here.

A charming, deliberately modest exploration of an improbable connection that knows exactly how long it should last.
