Royal Guard Melissa [English Ver.]

Editorial Review

★3.5 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

Dark-fantasy “fallen knight” erotica sits in a well-worn corner of the adult game space, and Royal Guard Melissa commits fully to the formula: an occupied capital, a hostage princess, a failed assassination attempt, and a heroine whose resolve is steadily worn down. Its Adventure tag is a loose fit. By the developer’s own admission the experience is roughly 90% scene content, so it plays closer to an interactive gallery with a narrative frame than to a story-driven title.

What gives it some weight is the production pedigree. A pool of 40+ CGs with variations is generous for this scale, and the monster and tentacle focus is clearly the visual centerpiece. Four credited composers is unusual for a short-form work and suggests the soundtrack was treated as more than filler. Two credited voice actresses add to the presentation. The English release keeps the original Japanese voices and translates only the text, which is the right call for atmosphere. The premise of a trusted royal guard who goes undercover and then pays for her betrayal also gives the corruption arc a clear emotional engine, even if the narrative is mostly a delivery mechanism.

Note that the content is built entirely on non-consensual themes and psychological breakdown, so it is narrow in appeal by design. Those who want romance, branching choices, or character depth should look elsewhere.

Best suited to readers who specifically seek dark-fantasy defeat scenarios with monster and tentacle content and want strong CG volume and voiced presentation over story complexity.

Verdict: a focused, unapologetically grim fallen-knight showcase that delivers exactly what its description promises, and little else.
