Pure Soldier OTOMAIDEN #2.Revenge! Soul Hunter (English Edition)

Editorial Review

★3.8 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

Pure Soldier OTOMAIDEN #2 plants itself squarely in the action-driven magical girl tradition, though its R-15 classification signals restraint compared to the more explicitly adult-oriented corner of the doujinshi market. This sequel positions itself as a continuation rather than a standalone entry, leaning into escalating threat narratives and expanding ensemble dynamics that dominate contemporary magical girl action manga.

The work’s distinctive appeal hinges on its focus on rematch narratives and alliance-building. The synopsis deliberately emphasizes an enemy’s resurrection—a narrative beat that trades on familiar sentai and magical girl tropes but apparently executes with enough conviction to merit a full sequel. The introduction of a mysterious rescuer who emerges mid-crisis adds interpersonal stakes alongside combat stakes, suggesting the author understands that character introduction timing matters as much as action choreography. The hospital interlude before the next incursion hints at pacing discipline; many doujinshi in this space rush between set pieces, but this structure implies breathing room for character development and world-building. The multiple threat vectors—Aira’s personal struggle, Luna’s separate peril, and the unnamed new antagonist—suggest an ensemble narrative that avoids protagonist tunnel vision.

The PDF format and English localization indicate professional production values and intentional international reach, distinguishing this from quick-turnaround doujinshi. This accessibility matters for non-Japanese readers seeking coherent magical girl action outside mainstream publishing.

Readers who appreciate magical girl action that prioritizes continuity, alliance dynamics, and escalating stakes over fanservice will find this sequel a solid investment. Those seeking experimental narrative structure or subversive magical girl deconstruction should look elsewhere.

A competent action continuation that rewards readers invested in its cast rather than casual browser passing through the section.
