Oyaji GO! [TGC]

Synopsis

Susumu Ohno (42), a salaryman at a major advertising agency, is a typical deadbeat dad.

He’s stuck in a meaningless desk job with no real prospects, just trudging through mundane daily tasks.

His son is disappointed by his pathetic father’s example.

His daughter despises him for not understanding her.

His wife is even rumored by the neighbors to be having an affair.

Yet somehow, their family bonds barely held together.

──I heard you’re the top candidate for the next round of layoffs.

Unemployment looms, and with it, the impending collapse of his family.

In desperation, the protagonist drowns his sorrows in cheap alcohol at a dimly lit food stall. On his way home, he becomes a victim of old man mugging.

──You look terrible.

A mysterious middle-aged man appears and saves him from danger, effortlessly handling the young attackers before extending a helping hand to the fallen protagonist. As the protagonist grasps it and pours out his troubles, the man quietly tells him:

──If you’ve come this far, there’s only one path forward. Stand up. Keep moving toward the light.

Now, the old man rises again to reclaim his family’s bond.
