Initially microscopic in size, it grows by absorbing both organic and inorganic matter in oxygenated environments, so its growth is suppressed using liquid nitrogen. Without constant freezing at absolute zero, it gradually becomes more active over time. Research suggests this slime is a collection of bacteria with special genetic information, implying potential for mutation under certain conditions.
