Editorial Review
Touhou Strip Mahjong + Extra represents a genuinely functional approach to the strip-game subgenre: it commits to being a competent mahjong implementation first and foreground content second, which is rarer than you’d expect in adult doujin games that treat minigames as mere scaffolding for CG galleries.
What distinguishes this work is its structural ambition. The inclusion of 20 playable Touhou characters across three distinct modes—Story for narrative progression toward erotic payoff, Free Play for pure mahjong engagement, and Strip Mode for the mechanics-tied undressing—gives the package genuine replay value beyond the stated ~100 CG variations. The fact that this functions as a legitimate mahjong simulator means players who find the adult content secondary can still extract dozens of hours of actual gameplay. The lesbian positioning, combined with the shrine maiden and character-specific comedic dynamics inherent to Touhou’s ensemble cast, provides thematic coherence rather than grafting adult content onto a mechanical shell.
The CG content distribution—19 base illustrations with 62 variations, plus bonus concept art in the DL version—suggests thoughtful asset creation rather than bare-minimum visual padding. Story Mode’s scenario-unlocking structure mirrors traditional visual novel progression, appealing to players who want narrative beats alongside gameplay goals.
This will most satisfy Touhou fans with genuine interest in mahjong who want their gaming sessions intersected with adult content, rather than those seeking primarily visual consumption. Casual players should note the 800×600 requirement might feel dated, though it’s functionally compatible with modern displays.
Strip Mahjong’s actual commitment to game design integrity makes it stand apart in a landscape crowded with token implementations. For its specific audience, it delivers on both promises: functional play and substantive visual rewards.
