Editorial Review
Vol.2 of a heartwarming monster-girl-adjacent cohabitation comedy, Our Pet Situation sits in the “cute girls with animal traits move in and chaos ensues” lane. That lane is crowded with fan-service-first productions, but this one leans on the romance-comedy side, with a steady couple at the center instead of a rotating harem of strangers.
The setup is the main draw. The protagonist is already in a relationship with Mint, the half-beast angel, so the story is about domestic life and escalating chaos rather than the will-they-won’t-they of a first meeting. The cast widens with Lily, a beast-eared demon, and Kakao, Mint’s angel sister, creating a lively angel-versus-demon household. The new summer arc adds Kuro, a wary girl with animal ears and a tail but no halo or wings, who belongs to neither side. She has a hidden goal, and an ominous presence is watching her, which gives the comedy a thread of mystery. The Adventure, Animation, Voice, and Music tags suggest a production built around lively presentation. Japanese voice acting with text in English and Simplified Chinese makes it unusually accessible for a doujin series.
Readers who like affectionate, noisy slice-of-life, a “pet-like” heroine, and a seasonal summer-vacation mood with a bit of intrigue will get the most out of it. Newcomers should know it is a sequel, and the series framing suggests starting with the first volume.
A cheerful, couple-centered comedy that adds just enough mystery to keep the chaos moving.
