Editorial Review
A genre-blending oddity, Absented Age 2 sits where action RPG exploration, strategy RPG tactics, and roguelike structure meet, a combination still uncommon in a Role-playing category dominated by more conventional dungeon crawlers. This bundle is the original game from terunon’s Lab with a live English/Japanese toggle, not a new edition, and the listing says plainly that the content matches the base release, including the arcade mode added in the v2.00 update.
What distinguishes the game itself is the seamless handoff from real-time roaming to turn-based combat. Touching an enemy, or being touched, pulls nearby foes into the battle without a loading break. Hundreds of skills and items, costume swaps, and the assist and change summons that call on allies bonded through the story give the tactics real depth. Tutorials are included, and a clear-data carryover from the previous chapter rewards returning players. Advanced techniques like just guards, counters, and hit-stop shifting suggest a combat system with a high skill ceiling. The Voice, Music, and Animation tags back up the presentation, and the “tea ceremony band club” protagonists drive an interactive soundtrack that responds to play. For this edition, vgperson’s translation is a draw in itself, and an @ key or L3 shortcut switches languages and shows a parallel translation instantly. That makes it a useful study tool for learners in either direction.
It suits strategy-minded players who enjoy mastering layered combat systems, anyone drawn to musical presentation in games, and Japanese learners who want a bilingual reference. Japanese-speaking buyers who already own the original have no reason to purchase this unless they want the English text.
Verdict: a tactically rich, stylishly scored hybrid RPG whose instant bilingual switching makes it a rare find for English readers and language students alike.
