Editorial Review
Shrine maiden versus yokai remains one of the steadier corners of the fighting-heroine subgenre, and this 32-page monochrome manga pairs it with a corruption-and-transformation premise that has been growing in popularity. Many entries in this space rush from ambush to defeat in a handful of pages. Here the setup is more deliberate: a series of disappearances attributed to a yokai called Hitosarai, and a miko, Kamuro Mayuri, sent to track it to a ruined building.
What sets it apart is the two-round structure. Mayuri is caught in a trap set by an enemy with some real intelligence, and she is infused with a fluid meant to advance the yokai’s corruption of her body. She then escapes with a secret technique, treats herself, and goes back for a rematch, only to find the erosion far beyond what she expected. That retreat-and-return rhythm gives the story a sense of escalation and consequence, and it makes the heroine’s confidence feel like something the narrative can actually undermine. A capable, determined protagonist whose condition worsens even while she acts sensibly is a more compelling dynamic than a simple ambush-and-fall setup.
The English edition arrives in both PNG and PDF, which is convenient for readers who prefer image-by-image viewing or a single file.
Readers who enjoy fighting heroines, supernatural settings and gradual bodily change will find the most here, especially if they prefer a plotted escalation to a single-scene encounter.
A tidy, well-paced shrine maiden corruption story that gives its heroine a real second act.
