The fixation on the navel is the hook. The premise is a device sold as a diet aid that enters painlessly through the navel, spreads pleasure inward, and rewrites the host’s sense of self. It is a tidy, escalating chain: the first victim becomes a carrier, and the next morning she summons her closest friend as the next “seedbed.” That chain structure gives the story forward momentum, and three women with distinct personalities falling in sequence promises variety in how each resists and surrenders.
