Synopsis
On a small island far from the mainland, Mitsutaka, the only young person living there, rescues a small white octopus from his fishing net one day.
The octopus has long been spoken of by island residents as a symbol of their guardian deity. They tease Mitsutaka, suggesting the creature might grant him a wish in thanks for saving it.
Mitsutaka has been troubled by a problem: he wants a boyfriend. Due to the island’s poor location, he has no opportunities to meet anyone and is constantly frustrated. Initially skeptical of the octopus legend, he decides to make a wish anyway, asking it to “bring me my ideal boyfriend.”
Returning to his senses, that night after finishing his day’s work, an unfamiliar visitor suddenly appears at Mitsutaka’s home.
The man tells Mitsutaka he is his boyfriend.

Editorial Review
[Alex’s Pick]
The Ideal Boyfriend God is a supernatural yaoi that leans into fantasy elements with clear enthusiasm. This work combines the appeal of idealized masculine aesthetics—muscular builds, deep voices, and commanding presence—with tentacle fantasy, creating something that sits comfortably within the more adventurous corners of doujin BL culture.
The supernatural framing gives the tentacle content a creative context rather than forcing it into everyday scenarios, which adds a layer of worldbuilding to what could otherwise be straightforward adult material. The emphasis on physical attributes like deep voice acting and detailed artwork suggests the creators prioritized sensory immersion, making this appealing for readers who value atmospheric presentation alongside visual quality.
What stands out here is the genre-blending approach. Rather than choosing between supernatural romance and explicit fantasy, the work commits to both, offering readers a complete experience. The short-haired character design choices add visual variety to the cast, and the muscular aesthetics are rendered with clear attention to form.
This isn’t experimental or particularly narrative-heavy—it’s straightforward in its appeal to fans of supernatural BL with explicit content and clear character archetypes. If you enjoy well-executed fantasy elements paired with unambiguous adult scenes and strong visual presentation, this delivers on those fronts without pretense.
