Kajikawa and Ichihara have been friends with benefits (FWB) for a few years.

One day, Kajikawa decided to end this relationship because she wanted to go marriage hunting.

But that was only a pretext.

Kajikawa was in love with Ichihara. However, to him, she was just one of his many FWBs…

Believing her feelings for him would go unrequited, she cut off ties with him.

    Not long after the breakup,

Ichihara texted her, saying he wanted to come to her place to retrieve some of the stuff he had forgotten there.

Naturally, Kajikawa declined, but eventually, she lost to his pushiness and allowed him in her house.

Suddenly, he hugged her from behind, saying:

    “I love you, Kajikawa.”

She pushed him away even though she was shaken by his out-of-the-blue confession, thinking that his words were only to keep her around as his FWB.

In the past, Ichihara told her:

“I like how you don’t tell me that you love me.”

These words traumatized her so much that she couldn’t believe Ichihara anymore.

On the other hand, Ichihara became fed up with Kajikawa’s obstinance and chose the “rough way” to make her understand…

    Editorial Review

This is a nuanced take on the friends-with-benefits-to-lovers archetype that distinguishes itself through emotional asymmetry and the painful gap between physical intimacy and genuine connection. Rather than the more common trajectory where both parties gradually realize mutual feelings, *My FWB Ichihara Won’t Let Me Go* starts with Kajikawa’s unrequited longing already established, forcing her into the position of the one with more to lose. The synopsis hints at a dynamic where Ichihara’s confession arrives suspiciously—timed to her departure, raising the legitimate question of whether his words are genuine or manipulative, which adds psychological friction often absent from straightforward romance narratives.

The setup relies on a specific vulnerability: Kajikawa’s assumption that years of casual intimacy couldn’t coexist with Ichihara’s deeper feelings, a realistic insecurity that grounds the drama in character psychology rather than contrived misunderstandings. The tags suggest this leans into adult content while maintaining emotional stakes, exploring how physical familiarity and romantic love operate on different planes. The 31-page length positions this as a substantial standalone work rather than a quick setup, allowing room for the slow unraveling of what both characters actually want.

This will resonate most with readers who appreciate romantic tension stemming from imbalanced emotional investment and character moments where physical proximity masks emotional distance. If you gravitate toward mature josei sensibilities—where romance isn’t triumphant but complicated, where intimacy requires negotiating vulnerability and trust—this deserves your attention.

A sharp execution of a scenario many avoid: what happens when the person you’ve been sleeping with actually loves you back, but you can’t believe it.
