    Editorial Review

★3.8 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

Maison de Labyrinth positions itself as a lightweight romantic visual novel with interactive 3D elements, occupying the sweet spot between narrative-driven dating sims and real-time character interaction apps that have proliferated across DLsite in recent years. The Ver. 2.0 update positions this squarely as a living project, prioritizing accessibility and incremental content expansion over one-and-done releases.

What distinguishes this work is its commitment to production polish across multiple vectors: voice acting (courtesy of Aruki Sara), a refreshed 3D model for the protagonist Ruri that the developers explicitly repositioned as “cuter,” and deliberate localization infrastructure spanning English and Simplified Chinese. The latter choice reveals genuine international ambition, rare in the doujin space where Japanese-only releases still dominate. The narrative setup—a socially withdrawn protagonist making an exception for his new girlfriend—trades originality for functional comfort, but the writing hints at psychological specificity through the protagonist’s stated aversion to people generally. The addition of a new position in the intimate scenes and lighting controls suggests developers responsive to player feedback on intimacy pacing and aesthetic preference, a pragmatic approach to content iteration.

The tower apartment setting and first-time girlfriend premise activate familiar power-dynamic appeal, though the synopsis strategically withholds story complications (“there was an anomaly”), suggesting narrative stakes beyond straightforward romance. The presence of a “bad end” pathway adds replayability weight.

This work appeals specifically to players seeking polished character interaction over experimental narrative, and who value voice and localization as baseline production expectations rather than premium features.

A competent romance-focused title that treats its modest scope seriously, executing localization and iterative design with more rigor than most doujin entries in its category.
