Synopsis
The popular comedy duo “Sitters” is at the peak of their career.
However, the one who is truly popular is the handsome and talented 24-year-old “Gosai.” Mio, his counterpart in the duo, is at a loss every day due to the stark disparity within their duo.
One day, after constantly being labelled as “the less popular one of the duo” and hearing comedians badmouth him for only being successful by his association with Gosai, Mio can’t take it anymore and proposes that they dissolve the duo…
But in a complete shift from his cool, public image, Gosai starts bawling and shuts down emotionally, refusing to dissolve the duo. In desperation, Mio lies and says, “I’m actually gay.”
Suddenly, Gosai stops crying…!?

Editorial Review
This works in the surprisingly fertile intersection of workplace comedy and reluctant intimacy—territory that’s proven rich in recent BL manga, where professional partnerships cracking under emotional pressure become proxies for romantic tension. Sitters distinguishes itself by grounding that dynamic in the specific anxieties of entertainment industry hierarchies rather than generic office settings, a choice that gives the premise real texture.
What makes this conceptually sharp is the lie-as-catalyst structure. Mio’s desperate fabrication about his sexuality functions as both comedic beat and narrative hinge, transforming the power imbalance within the duo into something more complex than mere popularity disparity. Gosai’s emotional shutdown and reversal—stopping his collapse the moment Mio claims homosexuality—creates immediate narrative intrigue: is this genuine romantic interest surfacing, or something more complicated about Gosai’s need to feel essential? The age gap between them (Gosai at 24 versus Mio’s 34) adds another layer of power dynamics that typically enriches BL narratives when handled thoughtfully.
The R18 rating paired with the comedy-duo framing suggests this steers toward earnest relationship development rather than pure smut, which aligns with a growing preference among doujin consumers for works that treat attraction as consequential. The JPEG/PDF format notes indicate this maintains traditional manga pacing across its pages, preserving comedic timing that hinges on visual sequencing.
This appeals most to readers seeking character-driven BL where professional stakes feel genuine and emotional vulnerability emerges messily rather than magically—those who value workplace tension narratives and age-gap dynamics, particularly when grounded in entertainment industry specificity rather than abstraction.
A cleanly conceived premise that transforms industry hierarchy into romantic possibility through one well-placed lie and one revealing emotional response.
