[ENG Ver.] My Neighbor Ayane Compilation

Editorial Review

★3.2 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

This is a straightforward slice-of-life romance compilation built on the foundational appeal of incremental intimacy escalation—a reliable format that dominates the doujin market but rarely transcends its own formula. The “teasy neighbor” archetype has been worked extensively across manga and doujinshi, so execution and character chemistry become everything here.

What distinguishes this package is its three-part narrative structure, which allows for progressive relationship development rather than the static scenarios many compilations default to. The “teasing selfies” angle in the middle entry suggests a contemporaneous communication dynamic that’s more textually engaged than typical encounters in the genre, while “coincidental meeting” implies external plot momentum rather than purely domestic scenarios. This layered approach—combined with the bonus character dialogue pages—suggests the creator invested in making Ayane feel like an actual presence beyond her sexual availability. The inclusion of logo-less variants and supplemental materials indicates attention to presentation quality, which generally correlates with consistent art across the compilation.

However, at its core this remains a straightforward progression-driven work without the subversive humor, psychological complexity, or visual innovation that would elevate it above the genre median. The synopsis telegraphs exactly what readers are getting: a man and his neighbor move through romantic escalation beats. That’s not a criticism—it’s precisely what this audience seeks—but it’s worth noting this isn’t attempting deconstruction or novel territory.

Readers seeking comfortable, guilt-free voyeurism into a gradually deepening neighbor relationship with decent sequential pacing will find solid value here. The compilation format justifies purchase over individual entries for those already familiar with the series. For collectors of romance-forward doujinshi emphasizing relationship progression over shock value, this delivers the goods competently.
