Quiet-bookworm heroines are a staple of adult doujinshi, but this one is framed as a slow-burn, after-school story rather than the quick setup-and-payoff structure common in the space. The title’s subtitle, “I thought I was the only one,” paired with a narrator too afraid to confess for fear of breaking a pleasant friendship, suggests a story built on assumptions and emotional vulnerability. The synopsis’s closing wish, that this blissful time could last forever, reads as a deliberate warning that the mood will not hold.
