[ENG Ver.] [R-18 Ver.] NOIR:NOAH

Editorial Review

★4.2 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

NOIR:NOAH positions itself as a Cthulhu Mythos-inflected survival adventure visual novel, a subgenre that’s gained traction among indie developers willing to marry cosmic horror’s existential dread with intimate, often transgressive narrative payoffs. The “grimly cute” descriptor in the pitch signals an aesthetic tension that defines this work’s identity—juxtaposing mundane vulnerability against eldritch grotesquerie.

What distinguishes this piece is its commitment to psychological disorientation as both theme and mechanic. The amnesiac protagonist navigating a research facility while piecing together fragmented memories of sisters and self creates natural narrative scaffolding for revealed truths, and the interspecies and body-horror content tags suggest the work doesn’t shy from using sexuality and violation as vehicles for the Mythos’s dehumanizing terror. The inclusion of depictions ranging from pregnancy and birth through amputation and suicide indicates this isn’t playing cosmic horror as atmospheric backdrop—it’s weaponizing biological and existential violation as content. The 105 total CGs with nearly 20 X-rated variants suggests substantial investment in visual payoff across its three endings, though the 1.5–3 hour runtime signals a tight, focused experience rather than sprawling epic.

The official English translation and credited R-18 localization (handled by Yuri Hiiragi with additional R-18 writing) is worth noting—doujin horror-erotica often loses tonal precision in translation, but dedicated localization suggests care in voice and pacing.

This will resonate most with players who want Lovecraftian atmosphere married to unflinching depictions of bodily transgression, those comfortable with genuinely uneasy eroticism rather than polished fantasy. NOIR:NOAH is horror-erotica that treats its grotesquerie seriously rather than ironically—a rare commitment in doujin space that warrants attention from experimentally-minded players.
