    Editorial Review

★4.0 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

Vertical shooters remain a thin slice of the adult game market, which leans heavily on visual novels and simple click-through adventures. Battle Angel: Wings of Light stands out by committing to real arcade mechanics rather than treating gameplay as a thin wrapper around the artwork. Its premise is classic sentai-style pulp: a giant creature called the “Lust Beast” is attacking the city, and you fly as part of a project named “Wings of Light” to stop it.

The control scheme shows more depth than most titles in this niche. Beyond movement and attack, you get a bomb, a dodge on its own key, and a weapon-swap button, which suggests tactical variety instead of pure bullet-sponge shooting. Between sorties, a coin-based upgrade system, weapon loadout selection, and a mission menu add a light progression loop. The reward structure is clearly laid out: nine HCGs and nine pixel art images, all viewable through a gallery function. Pairing full illustrations with pixel art gives the visuals two aesthetics, and the Animation and Music tags suggest presentation was a priority. Trilingual support in Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and English also widens the audience beyond the usual Japanese-only release.

At 30 to 45 minutes, it is built for a single sitting, so expect a compact experience rather than a sprawling campaign.

It suits players who want an arcade-style challenge with a modest upgrade loop and a gallery to unlock, and who care more about mechanics than story.

Verdict: a tidy, mechanically capable shooter that earns its place in a genre where gameplay is often an afterthought.
