You Are a ○○ Girl: A Trainer’s IF Story

Editorial Review

★3.8 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

Uma Musume fan-fiction occupies a surprisingly robust niche within the doujin ecosystem, but this work takes the unusual angle of centering the transformation narrative around the trainer protagonist rather than the horses themselves. That gender-bent, role-reversal premise—where the authority figure becomes the dependent—offers refreshing dynamics in a franchise typically structured around idol-adjacent competition and bonding. The fact that this compiles social media material into a unified product with new exclusive content signals a thoughtful approach to fan publishing rather than pure archival repackaging.

The appeal here hinges entirely on how the creator executes the transformation fantasy and explores the trainer’s adjustment to their new status. Twenty pages of newly illustrated material, combined with compiled web stories, suggests substantial creative investment. The inclusion of bonus manga and illustrations indicates the creator understands doujin reader expectations—physical or digital products need supplementary content to justify collection. The PDF-inclusive format hints at a hybrid release strategy, accessible to readers across distribution preferences.

This works best for Uma Musume enthusiasts already familiar with the trainer character from the creator’s Twitter presence, particularly those who enjoy character-centric transformation narratives and role-reversal dynamics. Readers seeking light, comedic takes on franchise premises will find more here than those looking for competitive racing narratives. The IF (special edition) framing also appeals to fans who enjoy exploring alternate scenarios and “what if” premises within established franchises.

For anyone following this creator’s Twitter work, the new content justifies the collection; for casual Uma Musume readers, this requires prior investment in the source material to land its humor and emotional beats. It’s a solid fan-created product that respects both source material and audience expectations.
