Secret Love (Tentative Title) Complete Set

Editorial Review

★4.2 / 5 — henhenta editorial rating (our own assessment, not the DLsite official user score)

“Secret Love” positions itself squarely in the contemporary school-set romance comedy space, operating at a tier occupied by works that prioritize character charm and romantic dynamics over mechanical complexity. The inclusion in HOOKSOFT’s 25th-anniversary campaign signals this as a legacy title—likely a remaster or collection leveraging established audience goodwill rather than a genre innovator. The “Complete Set” designation immediately marks this as a comprehensive package, consolidating what may have been episodic or separately released content into a single acquisition. Browser compatibility expands accessibility beyond traditional VN players, a practical choice for a romance-focused work where steady engagement matters more than visual spectacle. The tag constellation here is notably character-driven: multiple credited writers (Kuno Nogi, Kitaooji Yuki, Natsumine Iroha, Aizasai Moko) suggests branching routes with distinct vocal and narrative voices, which in doujin practice usually means careful attention to route-specific characterization rather than copy-paste scenarios. That “演出がいい” (presentation/direction is strong) shows up alongside “萌えゲーアワード” recognition—this work evidently prioritizes cinematic timing, musical cuing, and tonal shifts in ways that resonated with voting communities. The female schoolgirl cast in a academy setting is genre-standard, but award acknowledgment implies execution that distinguishes it from the formulaic middle tier. The romance emphasis appears genuine rather than a wrapper for other content, a positioning that’s increasingly niche in a doujin landscape where spectacle often dominates. This appeals directly to players seeking character-forward romantic comedy where writing quality and directorial subtlety matter—those fatigued by bloated production value at the expense of emotional pacing. A solid recommendation for doujin romance readers valuing craft over scale, particularly those with fondness for the original HOOKSOFT era.
