――A cursed cat sets out on a journey.
‘The Hollow’――a mysterious phenomenon that threatens all life on earth, from animals to plants. The village of Karō suffers severe famine from the devastation of the Hollow, and its inhabitants are forced to sustain themselves on corpses as food. To stave off further starvation, they resort to a desperate measure――living flesh. In their desperation, the cats of the village turn to ‘sacrifice’ as their only option. One cat from the village is chosen as an offering to feed the others. All the villagers live in fear, knowing that tomorrow it could be their turn.
Konoé, who lives in this dying village, suddenly undergoes a change. Black curse marks appear on his body, and his ears and tail turn black――a sign of an ancient curse long spoken of as an ill omen.
‘I must leave this village.’ With no room for discussion among cats who must resort to cannibalism to survive, Konoé senses the danger and decides to flee Karō for Lansen, the largest city in Shisa, hoping to find a way to break the curse and restore his body. And so, despite the perils of the Hollow, Konoé begins his journey.
