Is She a Girlfriend, Friend, or Roommate Friend?

Home R18 Games Is She a Girlfriend, Friend, or Roommate Friend?

    Synopsis

“Roommate Friend” – a system that later becomes the protagonist’s lifelong pride.

Kashiwaba Yuki, a lonely virgin, decides to use this controversial roommate-matching system to break free from his isolated life and hopefully lose his virginity. Thirty seconds after submitting his request, there’s a doorbell ring.

    Yuki: “Already?”

Before he could even change into fresh underwear, his roommate arrives: “H-Hi! I’m Hinomori Sakurako, username is sakura neko! This is my first time doing this roommate thing and I’m so nervous… I just really didn’t want to go home today…!”

It’s Sakurako – the girl he’s always admired.

“If I can seduce her and make her fall for me, she’ll have to ask me to embrace her… Perfect!” he thinks.

But Sakurako has her own hidden agenda: “If I make Yuki fall head over heels, I can get a convenient roommate who’ll provide free meals and lodging!”

Two love-struck amateurs with clashing schemes begin their heated battle under the guise of innocent cohabitation. But as they struggle through their inexperience and call in other roommate friends to cope with being alone together, they gradually grow fond of this comfortable relationship that’s more than friendship but less than romance. What unfolds is a heartwarming, slightly naughty romantic comedy.

    Editorial Review

This romantic comedy-adventure sits comfortably in the increasingly crowded cohabitation-harem space, but distinguishes itself through a refreshingly symmetrical power dynamic. Rather than the typical passive-protagonist setup, both leads arrive with explicit romantic schemes, immediately inverting genre expectations: Yuki wants genuine seduction while Sakurako pursues pragmatic exploitation. This mutual deception creates legitimate comedic tension that most roommate-focused works squander.

The “Roommate Friend” system itself is a clever narrative conceit that justifies the premise without requiring contrived circumstances, and the thirty-second arrival gag signals the work understands its own absurdity. The inclusion of a battle system is particularly notable here—it suggests mechanical conflict resolution beyond dialogue trees, potentially giving weight to these competing objectives rather than allowing them to dissolve into inevitable romantic capitulation. The large-breasts tag combined with school-life and comedy suggests a work comfortable balancing fanservice with character interplay, which the synopsis supports through Sakurako’s nervous first-timer dialogue.

What’s genuinely distinctive is the meta-awareness baked into both characters’ motivations. This isn’t about mysterious tsunderes or forced proximity creating attraction; it’s about two people consciously attempting manipulation who may find themselves genuinely caught in the web they’re weaving. The award-winning designation suggests the execution backs up this premise, though the synopsis cuts off mid-sentence, leaving the resolution direction unclear.

The harem tag indicates additional love interests will complicate these dynamics, potentially shifting from two-person strategic dating sim into broader relationship management—a common pivot point where cohabitation works either deepen or dilute their core appeal.

Ideal for players seeking comedy-forward harem experiences where both leads actively pursue their goals rather than passively falling into romance, with sufficient mechanical depth to justify the “battle” framing beyond pure flavor text.
