In a distant future, on the southwestern island of Midori-jima in the Japanese archipelago. Once a place where nature and people coexisted in harmony, the island was purchased by one of Japan’s leading conglomerates, the Toue Corporation. About one-third of the island was transformed into a luxurious members-only entertainment complex called “Platinum Jail.”

While the state-of-the-art Platinum Jail attracts attention, the islanders who fell victim to the aggressive development were forced into the “Old Residential District,” struggling to survive in a far from prosperous area.

The protagonist, Aoba, spends his days working part-time at a junk shop called “Heibon” in the old residential district, living quietly with his grandmother Tae. Among the youth of the district, two games have become popular: “Rib Steez,” where teams engage in daily turf wars through physical combat, and “Rhyme,” an online virtual reality game that captivates “Rhymers.”

But Aoba showed interest in neither, content to live peacefully with his grandmother. However, an ominous change was beginning to disturb that peaceful existence…
