Synopsis

The express train 【Michishio】. A sleeper express train that traverses Japan from north to south over more than two weeks, prioritizing comfort over speed. It operates like an ordinary train—albeit an impossibly leisurely one.

‘Conductor Kaidou Seiji.’ I’m being called from outside the conductor’s office by Takatsuki Yuujiro, the assistant conductor of the Michishio—my capable right-hand man. When I open the door, an unfamiliar man stands beside Takatsuki with crossed arms. A passenger complaining about the delayed departure. Such complaints are common during operational troubles. Most back down after I explain the Michishio’s concept and that the delay can be easily made up.
