Sakurai Mitsuhiro works as an employee at a convenience store chain headquarters, constantly called upon by his best friend Shinozaki Kazuma, a mentally unstable handsome cop. His problem: he has only ever experienced love through compromise, always catering to partners he settled for. Beautiful women are everywhere on the streets, yet he always finds himself with someone he’s compromised on. His heart wears thin with each compromise.

Then one day, a part-time worker joins his franchise store—Shinozaki Mizue, the mother of his troubled friend Kazuma. She is the woman Mitsuhiro first became conscious of as a child, thinking “someday I’ll marry someone like her.” He was surprised to learn that Mizue, wife of the elite Police Inspector General Shinozaki Kiyoshi and a supposed celebrity, had become a part-timer. As Mitsuhiro supports her through work difficulties, their distance gradually closes.
