    Synopsis

Izumi Tomohiro was appointed student council president through a lottery draw. While he initially approached the role cautiously and safely, he gradually developed a genuine sense of responsibility and became increasingly active, even spending his days off with other council members.

One day, while participating in a doujin fair as staff for a personal circle, Tomohiro steps away from his booth to buy a drink after selling out. On impulse, he wanders into an original fiction section, where he witnesses the presence of someone who shouldn’t be there…

This is the story of a girl who fell outside the main narrative—not the heroine, but someone special.

    Editorial Review

Hamidashi Creative Re:Re:call occupies a peculiar and increasingly explored corner of the visual novel space: the meta-narrative romance where the protagonist pursues a character explicitly positioned outside the “intended” storyline. This subgenre has gained traction among players fatigued by conventional romance hierarchies, and this work leans deliberately into that appeal.

What distinguishes this entry is its anchoring in school romance fundamentals—student council dynamics, the ojou-sama archetype, comedic tone—while deliberately subverting them through narrative apparatus. The doujin fair setting functions as more than flavor; it’s thematic scaffolding that literalizes the gap between “canon” heroines and the protagonist’s actual interest. This self-aware positioning, combined with the love comedy tag, suggests the work understands its own conceptual playfulness rather than treating the premise as novelty alone. The girl “who fell outside the main narrative” is positioned as emotionally resonant precisely because she exists in narrative shadow, and the protagonist’s active pursuit of her becomes the genuine story. That’s a departure from the typical school romance formula.

The technical specifications—Windows 10/11 compatibility, browser functionality—indicate accessibility-conscious development, suggesting the creators prioritized reaching players beyond hardcore visual novel enthusiasts. The cute girls tag alongside romance implies character design remains conventionally appealing despite the unconventional narrative framing.

This appeals most sharply to players who’ve grown weary of straightforward harem or predetermined route structures, particularly those drawn to meta-textual commentary that doesn’t require postmodern irony to function as romance. The combination of low-stakes comedy, school setting familiarity, and genuine emotional investment in an “off-route” character creates distinct appeal.

Hamidashi Creative Re:Re:call executes a specific fantasy—being the person who sees past the narrative hierarchy to recognize real connection—with enough craft and self-awareness to justify its central conceit.
