Far in the future. Midori Island lies in the southwestern region of the Japanese archipelago. Once a place where nature and people coexisted in harmony, the island was purchased by the Toujou Zaibatsu, one of Japan’s largest financial conglomerates. Approximately one-third of the island was transformed into “Platinum Jail,” an exclusive luxury entertainment facility. While the state-of-the-art Platinum Jail draws attention, the island residents who fell victim to aggressive development were pushed into the “Old Residential District,” forced to eke out a modest living.

The protagonist, Aoba, spends his days working part-time at “Benben,” a junk shop in the Old Residential District, living peacefully with his grandmother Tae. Among the youth of the district, a certain game has become wildly popular: “Ribstiezz,” where teams engage in daily territorial street fights, and “Lime,” an immersive online game set in a virtual world, with passionate “Limers” devoted to it. But Aoba shows no interest in either, content with his quiet life alongside his grandmother.

Yet peaceful days are about to be disrupted by an approaching disturbance——
