Synopsis

“…The cafe business isn’t doing well. Actually, it’s worse than that.”

While my mother runs the shop and my sister Saira and I help out between school, my father sighs while reviewing the books.

Our customer count has been dropping because a maid cafe opened up nearby and stole our clientele.

“In other words, we just need to do cosplay to compete,” my father casually declares.

In his hands are costume outfits—remarkably risqué ones at that—which he spreads out before the whole family.

“Well, I suppose if it’s necessary for business… we should,” my mother says airily. She’s the easygoing, naturally oblivious type. Having married my father, who’s forceful and prone to absurd ideas, she can somehow accept even outrageous proposals like this.

“N-No way! I hate this! Absolutely impossible…!!”

Saira’s face turns bright red as she shakes her head frantically and runs out of the room. Yeah… wearing that outfit to work would be torture for her, not just embarrassing.

“…And so, Kazuki, I’m counting on you to look after your mother and Saira.”

After my father left the room following Saira, that was the end of the discussion.

From the next day onward, while Saira remained unchanged, my mother changed into the outfit my father recommended and began working at the cafe.
