They mistakenly believed that Kamishirasawa and her group, who came from the Demon Realm, were the masterminds behind it all.

Kamishirasawa and her allies get caught up in the chaos against their will. How will they face this ‘incident’?

And so, a full-fledged SRPG makes its appearance here!

    Editorial Review

Touhou Emblem III plants itself squarely in the tactical RPG niche, adopting the grid-based strategy framework that’s dominated fan-made Touhou games for over a decade. It’s a full-fledged SRPG rather than a visual novel with strategy elements—a distinction that matters, given how many Touhou doujin titles chase narrative-first design instead. This particular entry sits comfortably within established fan-game conventions, though its structural ambitions suggest something more polished than typical hobbyist fare.

What distinguishes this installment is its narrative inversion: Kamishirasawa takes the protagonist slot rather than occupying her usual supporting role, arriving as the story’s most mechanically powerful unit from the outset. This design choice sidesteps the typical RPG power fantasy arc—you’re already dominant—and instead frames the plot as misjudged outsiders stumbling into an active incident. The mistaken identity hook with Suzaku’s faction provides straightforward narrative momentum without requiring deep Touhou lore familiarity. The roster depth deserves mention; featuring everyone from series mainstays like Reimu and Marisa to secondary cast like Lumia and Daiyousei suggests substantial work populating the tactical battlefield with character variety.

This targets SRPG enthusiasts who tolerate or actively prefer Touhou’s aesthetic over mechanical innovation. The all-ages tag indicates clean presentation without sacrificing strategic complexity, making it accessible to series newcomers drawn by character fanbases rather than established game design reputation.

An earnest SRPG that leverages Touhou’s roster depth and avoids the visual novel trap many fan projects succumb to. Whether it justifies extended playtime hinges entirely on tactical depth rather than narrative novelty, but the foundational concept—an overpowered protagonist fumbling through political confusion—holds genuine comedic potential that the genre rarely explores.
