D.C.5 Plus Happiness + Sweet Happiness Bundle

Editorial Review

CIRCUS’s D.C. franchise continues its long-running tradition of character-centric visual novels with this bundle pairing, positioning itself squarely in the romance-comedy school setting space that dominates Japan’s all-ages to softcore VN market. The series maintains its established appeal: fantasy-tinged high school narratives built around ensemble casts rather than plot-driven narratives.

What distinguishes this bundle is its deliberate packaging strategy around supplementary audio and bonding content. Rather than relying solely on the core VN experience, CIRCUS has layered in voice drama CDs—intimate character monologues and scenarios like “Flustered Bath Time” and “Let Me Take Care of You”—that function as extended relationship deepening moments. This approach reflects the current trend toward multimedia integration in doujin releases, where voice performance and ancillary materials often carry as much weight as the main text. The dual-title structure (Plus Happiness and Sweet Happiness) suggests character-route variations, allowing players to explore different romantic trajectories within a shared school framework. The inclusion of character cover songs and arranged music further indicates production polish typically associated with CIRCUS’s mid-tier releases.

The 2024 Moe Game Award recognition for “Pure Love” categorization signals that narrative emphasis falls on sincere romantic development rather than comedic absurdism, though the romance-comedy tag suggests tonal balance throughout. The presence of multiple female characters (Sakura Mizuha, Yasaka Ainoa, Yasaka Kanako, Shirakawa Aika, Tsunesaka Setsuna) with individual voice drama scenarios confirms this is character-driven in the most literal sense—player satisfaction depends on connection with specific heroines.

Ideal for players seeking emotionally grounded school romance with robust voice acting and supplementary character content who don’t require branching complexity or high-stakes plotting. A solid, well-supported entry in CIRCUS’s reliability tier.
