Synopsis

Ayato Hirose lost his mother years ago and lives alone with his father. When his father suddenly gets assigned a two-month overseas business trip during summer vacation, Ayato faces two months of solitude. Worried about his son, Ayato’s father consults with Rinko Shingu, a married woman from the neighborhood, who introduces him to a special housekeeping service.

But this is no ordinary housekeeping agency—it’s a “Mama Substitute Service” where registered women come to act as “moms” and take care of household chores and daily life. Rinko herself works for the agency and arrives as Ayato’s official “mama.” Soon, other women join in: Kiyoko, a childhood friend and married woman who also wants to be Ayato’s mama; Kana, the service company president; and Tsumugi Niimi, a new staff member. Thus begins an intense and peculiar mother-son household dynamic.
