Synopsis
The stage is set during Japan’s tumultuous final years of the shogunate. An ancient and mysterious power has been passed down through the ages—a power that awakens in someone when the nation faces crisis. Those who possess this power can read their opponent’s weaknesses and strike them down like the wind. Legend says that when reading an enemy’s weakness, a faint light—sometimes crimson flames—appears. This light came to be known as the “Jewel.”
Ten years after the arrival of the Black Ships, Japan teeters on the brink of unprecedented danger. Political power shifts from Edo to Kyoto, where the capital becomes a lawless zone under the guise of divine punishment. Maintaining order in this chaos are the “Mibu Ronin” (later known as the Shinsengumi), fierce warriors led by Isao Kondo and called the “Wolves of Mibu.”
Our protagonist, Kenta Mita, is saved by these men and joins them in protecting Kyoto alongside the colorful members of the Shinsengumi as the tide of history turns toward the overthrow of the shogunate.
