Synopsis

This is a remake of ‘Rance -In Search of Light-‘ released in 1989. While preserving the classic command selection adventure gameplay, everything has been rebuilt with new scenarios, graphics, battle systems, and sound. First-time players can enjoy the first chapter of the Rance series featuring the exploits of a young brutal warrior, while returning fans will appreciate the character and story changes.

■Story

Rance, a brutish warrior obsessed with seducing girls, leaves a trail of screaming beauties wherever he goes. Traveling east and west with Sill, a young slave mage he recently purchased, Rance’s latest destination is the wealthy Kingdom of Leazas. A noble lady named Hikari, student of the prestigious Paris Academy, has gone missing, and Rance accepts the search request. Eager to meet beautiful women in the capital—and perhaps claim Hikari for himself—Rance heads to Leazas. He infiltrates Paris Academy with Sill, battles thieves (and claims captured girls), defeats hordes of zombies (and takes credit for saving them), advancing his investigation. But as he uncovers clues, he becomes entangled in sinister conspiracies that threaten to shake the very foundations of the kingdom.

■Game System

Combines both ADV and RPG elements, leaning slightly toward ADV but with the classic style of moving around and selecting choices to raise flags, rather than modern story-focused visual novels. Dungeon exploration uses a card-based system, and battles employ battle chips, each offering unique mechanics.
