The Faceless Moon -Eve of the Twin Camellias-

Synopsis

Summer, 2000. In the remote mountain village of Kusaka, nestled deep in Shinshu, preparations quietly begin for a secret festival held only once every nineteen years: the “Lunar Vigil Ceremony.”

The Kuraki family, an enigmatic clan that has long ruled these lands, presides over the ritual. They reside in the “Camellia Mansion,” a magnificent Western-style estate overflowing with blooming flowers, and maintain their own mysterious traditions.

The protagonist, Koreki Hamayama, is summoned to the mansion by the Kuraki family. Afflicted with a peculiar illness that prevents him from recognizing women’s faces and tormented by recurring nightmares, he arrives in a haze of hallucinations. Yet upon awakening in the Kuraki mansion, his vision suddenly clears—and he finds himself face-to-face with Suzune Kuraki, the family’s only daughter and the “Lunar Vigil Maiden.”

Hamayama is then appointed heir to the Kuraki household and ordered to remain in the mansion until the ceremony one month hence. But what mysteries await in this bewildering village, and what will bloom at the ritual’s end?
