【STORY】

My birthplace is a small island nation called ‘Saika.’

With the changing seasons, colorful flowers bloom across the island, and the transparent sea surrounding it reveals vibrant fish visible from above the water’s surface.

The islanders have generous hearts. They make their living by fishing.

Catching only what they need to eat, living simply and peacefully—that was our way of life.

The king who rules ‘Saika’ is my father, and I am the third princess of this kingdom.

But being royalty is merely a title.

Our lives are not so different from the commoners’.

We live in a slightly larger mansion than theirs, surrounded by a few soldiers.

Our taxes are paid in fish, so our table is always filled with fish.

Everything changed shortly after I turned twenty.

A series of unprecedented great storms struck our nation, and after they subsided, the sea turned red.

Ships were swept away and destroyed by the storms, and then countless fish began dying in the crimson waters.

We were terrified.

We had always been cradled by the sea, sustained by its blessings—but now, abandoned by it, we didn’t know what to do.

Yet through the red sea came a trading ship from the great nation.

…But we had nothing to trade.

That night, my father summoned me and told me:
