Synopsis

■Prologue (Introductory Chapter)

A song echoes through the cold wind――

As if matching the guitar I play in the music room at dusk.

As if matching the piano played by someone I don’t know in the next classroom.

That voice, high and clear like a ringing bell, echoing from the rooftop,

wove together our three separate melodies into one.

It began on such a late autumn day.

At that moment, someone fell in love with someone.

Everyone gave their all.

Everyone pushed forward with conviction.

Everyone, earnestly, straightforwardly, honestly――

found themselves bound at heart, grasping a priceless moment.

And so at that moment, someone fell in love with someone.

A forbidden love, arriving too late.

Then came winter――the accumulating snow concealed all sins.

And then spring――as the snow melted, all punishment was laid bare.

■Prologue (Closing Chapter)

A song echoes through the cold wind――

On the empty campus at dusk, in the deserted cafeteria, by the windows of a lonely school building.

That song we froze three years ago.

That deceptive song, driven by passion and pure emotion, is melting away.

Those days when we were three feel distant now,

as we repeat this season of two over and over.

So it begins again, on another late autumn.

The ugly scar from that bond we once tried to tear apart never heals,

yet something new is about to change.

Two lonely melodies draw toward and wound each other,

and in doing so, call forth a new melody.

Winter is coming soon.

A winter without that person, and without him.

I don’t know what a White Album is.

Because I can’t sing anymore.

I won’t chase love that never reaches me.

Because I can’t love anyone anymore.
