Railroads are controlled by humanoid modules called Railroads. Hachiroku, the 8620-class steam locomotive top-number unit and dedicated Railroad, was decommissioned due to major line closures and had been dormant. Shoutoku Mida, a young railroad accident survivor who accidentally awakens her, teams up with Hachiroku, his step-sister Hibi-hime an artist, and Poret the mayor and railroad company president to search for the missing 8620 steam locomotive.

◎To reduce Poret’s dual burden, Shoutoku begins supporting her policies. To realize Poret’s “tourism revival through railroad utilization,” they explore revitalizing an abandoned coal mine. They propose establishing “Goyoyo Mine Treasure,” a renovated tourist theme park featuring experiential coal mining and using mined coal as steam locomotive fuel. To realize this plan, Shoutoku undergoes crew training with Kiha 07s and its dedicated Railroad rein’a.
