Following a great war in the past, the earth became heavily contaminated, making it nearly uninhabitable for most life. Humanity gradually weakened and diminished in numbers. The remaining people repurposed their wartime technology to construct massive city-states in the few areas with low contamination levels. As people built lives in these cities, they steadily removed contamination both inside and outside, slowly increasing the population.

As population grew and construction expanded, records of weapons, technology, and information from the great war—things that hindered humanity’s revival—were sealed and erased, so future generations would not repeat the same mistakes.

Time passes. The present day. An era where the past great war is spoken of only in fragmented accounts. On the surface, peace reigns, but behind the scenes, those who excavate and misuse relics from the great war using scattered remaining records continue to emerge. To combat this, guardians exist to maintain peace in the cities.
