The protagonist, Masao Nemoto, was laid off from his company and has been working as a school janitor for the past five years through family connections—a favor he’s constantly reminded of. In his forties, overweight and bald, he’s looked down upon and mocked by the elite students for his high school education and lowly position.

Two female students in particular treat him especially harshly:

First is Asuka Sakura, the top student with the best grades, serving as discipline committee chair. She’s extremely fastidious and ethical, yet she berates him for allegedly giving female students lewd looks, calling it sexual harassment. When he accidentally glimpses up her skirt, she forces him to grovel.

Second is Reina Toudou, a delinquent with terrible conduct, but whose family donates large sums to the school, so she faces no punishment.
